I Started Working Out—Then My Skin Started Breaking Out

At the beginning of this year, I made a commitment to get healthier. I joined a gym, started eating clean, and felt great about finally sticking to a routine. But strangely, just a few weeks in, I started noticing something that made me second-guess everything:
my skin was breaking out. Badly.

Back, shoulders, even my chest—places that had never given me trouble before. At first, I assumed it was sweat, maybe dirty gym equipment, or just my body detoxing.

But even after switching to antibacterial soap and showering immediately after workouts, the irritation didn’t stop. In fact, the more I exercised, the worse it got.

That’s when a skin care blog I follow mentioned something I’d never considered:
your shower water might be the real problem.

I started reading more and discovered that most tap water contains chlorine, heavy metals, and even bacteria—all of which can clog pores and irritate sweaty, sensitive skin. After intense workouts, your pores are wide open. That means whatever’s in your water goes straight into your skin.

So I installed a filtered shower head—honestly, more out of curiosity than anything.

And just like that… everything changed.

Within days, the breakouts calmed down. After two weeks, my skin was clear again. No more itchiness. No more redness. Just clean, healthy skin—finally matching the healthy lifestyle I was working so hard for.

Now, a filtered shower is just as important to me as hitting the gym.

Clean body. Clean water. Clean results.
