Moving to a New Apartment Nearly Ruined My Skin—Until I Discovered a Filtered Shower Head
When I moved into my new apartment last year, everything felt perfect—great location, big windows, newly renovated bathroom. I was excited to start fresh.
But within the first few weeks, I noticed something strange. My skin, which had always been relatively clear and healthy, started breaking out. Not just on my face—on my back, shoulders, even arms. At first, I thought it was stress. Or maybe the detergent. But nothing I changed seemed to help.
One night, I caught a faint metallic smell while showering. That’s when it hit me:
Could it be the water?
I started researching and quickly learned that older buildings often have pipes that release rust, heavy metals, and other contaminants into the water supply. Combine that with chlorine and sediments, and suddenly it made sense—my skin wasn’t reacting to products, it was reacting to the water itself.
I decided to try a filtered shower head, just to see if it would make a difference. It was easy to install, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting miracles.
But after just a few days, my skin started calming down. No new breakouts. Less itching. After two weeks, I actually started enjoying my showers again. The water felt softer, cleaner. And I felt better—knowing I was protecting my skin from what I couldn’t see.
Looking back, I wish I had known this sooner.
A simple change in my shower routine helped me take back control of my skin.
